Discovered, developed, researched, and illustrated complex Splunk customer stories for Nothing Splunked, Nothing Gained (later renamed Listen to Your Data). The stories were designed to make Splunk understandable to key audiences. Each story is true, but sensitive information is hidden. Each story includes components to illustrate value, innovation, and big picture perspectives on the technology.

To learn which stories to tell, I worked with senior members of the sales team to find the most compelling stories. We came up with fun incentives to discover new stories of successful uses of Splunk that had not yet emerged. I worked with engineers, sales, product, marketing, and editors to create each story.

To illustrate these stories, I drew on past developer experience, plus self-taught Splunk training. I used Splunk's "sandbox" to replicate true customer scenarios. This is how I obtained the screen shots you see in the stories. For example, I manipulated Splunk sample data to create the screen shots below.
